Best for: congested texture, clogged pores, blackheads and small bumps under the surface

When dead skin cells don't shed evenly, they build up on the surface and inside pores. That's what makes skin look dull and feel bumpy and congested, and it's often where blackheads and those small flesh colored bumps begin. These pads are made for exactly that kind of congestion.

One important distinction: if your skin feels rough and dry like sandpaper rather than bumpy, that's usually a sign of a struggling barrier, and it isn't something you can exfoliate away. That skin needs support first.

LHA (capryloyl salicylic acid) is a salicylic acid with a fatty chain attached, which makes it oil loving. It stays in the upper layers and in the oily environment of the follicle, where it loosens the connections between cells a layer at a time, closer to how skin is supposed to shed. Gluconolactone, a polyhydroxy acid, exfoliates and binds water at the same time and also binds the metals that drive oxidation, so retained cells are released without leaving the skin dehydrated. Salicylic acid, willow bark and glutathione round out the formula, with panthenol and allantoin added for comfort.

The pads have two sides. The textured side gently polishes, and the smooth side lets you focus on the areas that get oily or congested.

How to use

We strongly recommend using these pads together with Remedy. Exfoliation goes much better on a barrier that's calm and well hydrated, and Remedy is designed to give your skin that support while the pads do their work.

The pads are the one exception to Remedy going first. Use the pad right after cleansing, then apply Remedy.

1. After cleansing, wipe the textured side of the pad over your face, following the direction of your skin and avoiding your lips and eyes.
2. Turn the pad over and use the smooth side on the areas that tend to congest, like your forehead, nose and chin.
3. Pat in what's left, then apply Remedy and the rest of your routine. If you aren't using Remedy yet, follow with a gentle moisturizer.

Start with a few evenings a week and build up as long as your skin stays comfortable. Exfoliation does the most good on a healthy barrier and in small doses. Too much can make breakouts worse or create a whole new problem. Wear sunscreen every morning while you're exfoliating. Use each pad once and discard it.

Which acne product is right for you?

Mostly congested texture, blackheads and clogged pores: Radiance LHA Peel Pads.
Oily skin with clogged pores plus some red breakouts: Ekseption Super Salicylic Fluid.
Mostly red, tender looking breakouts: ISOV Clear Clarifying Serum.

Choose either the pads or the Super Salicylic Fluid rather than using both on the same night. If you use a prescription acne treatment, check with your prescriber before adding an exfoliant.
